Articulation Procedures

New Student Admission
 
  • UNT receives undergraduate applications from China Center for International Educational Exchange (CCIEE) in March of every year.
  • Sponsored Office does a pre-screening to the new applications for a required GPA and checks the consistence of transcripts in Chinese and English.
  • Email College Transcript and High School transcript to the Undergraduate Admission office and consult with the Undergraduate Admission office for the applicants with the GPA probably below 2.50 if credits in Chinese Universities are less than 30.
  • Sponsored Office sends applications and supporting documents to Intensive English Language Institute and the UNT undergraduate admissions office.
  • Temporarily use the SSPC mailing address for each student’s mailing address and Cathy’s email address for each student’s email address. 
  • Applicants’ information and transcripts with one semester of coursework are entered into DARS by IELI and the Undergraduate Admission Office.
  • Sponsored Office prepares the DS 2019 application form for each student and send it to the International Student and Scholar Services office.
  • Sponsored Office mails admission packets including the CTP program checklist and the UNT Course Information Form to CCIEE.
  • Sponsored Office announces the news about the newly-admitted CTP students to the departments receiving new students.
  • Sponsored Office helps new admitted students with their housing registration.
  • Director of Global Partnerships and Research Engagement at UNT works with Sponsored Student Advisor in the CTP program on MOU’s for new partner Chinese universities.
  • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program sends MOU’s to the Chinese universities (ongoing process between Chinese universities and UNT until the Agreement is signed).
Course Information and Transcript of the first year
 
  • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program asks CCIEE to remind the admitted students of the UNT CTP program checklist and the UNT Course Information Form.
  • Request an electronic copy of each completed UNT Course Information Form from Chinese partner universities before admitted students come.
  • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program requests students’ first year transcript from CCIEE when they become available in August.
  • UNT receives the first year transcript in September.
  • The Sponsored Office sends the first year transcripts to the UNT Undergraduate Admission office for the evaluation and data entry process.

Notes: 

Spring semesters end in July in China. After the middle of July, Chinese universities close for their summer break till the end of August. Usually the spring transcript will be available in September.  

It takes several months to receive course information from China because Chinese universities are working on their standardized catalog and haven’t got all the course information ready.

Course Information Packet for Academic Advisors
 
  • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program edits English translation of all the course information provided by Chinese partner universities.
  • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program prepares a course information packet for each department receiving CTP students.  Packet includes:
    • Course Equivalency Cover Memo to Department
    • Course Equivalency Evaluation Sheet for each course
    • Completed course Information Forms with syllabi and course descriptions.
    • Four year curriculum from Chinese partner universities.
    • Copy of transcript in both English and Chinese from Chinese partner universities.
    • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program notifies Colleges of new CTP students who have passed TOEFL/IELTS so that they could evaluate those students’ courses and manipulate the transferred courses in DARS to create degree audit before the fall semester.
    • The faculty in the department reviews the transcript and each course to approve acceptance of credit.
    • The College acknowledges receipt of course information packet and informs Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program when their work in the College is complete.
Follow up with Academic Advisors on Students’ Intensive English Language Institute Status
 
  • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program informs each college their new CTP students’ IELI statuses so that they could work on degree audits for those students starting the UNT Academics in the following spring semester.
  • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program reminds students to attend the Spring Transfer Orientation and to meet with academic advisors about their degree audit and select their spring courses.
  • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program asks the Academic advisors for the scanned copies of the completed Course Equivalency Evaluation Sheets.
  • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program saves the scanned copies to one folder in the Shared Drive and SharePoint.
Senior Course Information and Transcript
 
  • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program communicates with academic advisors about the senior courses when students are in their second year at UNT.
  • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program contacts Chinese universities for time extension at UNT.
  • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program reports to CCIEE about time extension approval from UNT and Partner Universities.
  • Students request course descriptions, syllabi, and other course materials from Chinese universities.
  • Students take the 1+2+1 Program Academic Pre-Approval Form along with the completed UNT Transfer Course Information Form to meet with their academic advisors
  • The College/School verifies the courses signed off on the 1+2+1 Program Academic Pre-Approval Form match the courses taken at the Chinese partner institution prior to awarding the credential.
Graduation
 
  • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program requests the senior transcript from the Chinese university. 
  • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program sends senior transcripts to academic advisors for course articulation.
  • Student signs up for graduation before the cut-off date of the semester they graduate from. 
  • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program meets with academic advisors for student graduation status.
  • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program meets with the Registrar’s Office for student graduation.
  • Sponsored Student Advisor in charge of the CTP program notifies CCIEE of new graduates from UNT.
